Hummock Loop Trail
.2 miles one way
Walk through the forest and see the wildlife. Located off Marshy Creek Trail, this loop trail leads to a wooded upland patch poking above the marsh, known as a hummock. This pine tree covered path takes you over the marsh on a narrow boardwalk to an open loblolly pine wood. The path continues around the perimeter of the hummock. You can follow the path or meander through the trees. It is a lovely quiet area where the children can play.
- Multiple wooden benches provide a place to sit and enjoy the sounds of nature; and maybe have a picnic lunch or a snack
- Look for brown-headed nuthatches, creepers, and warblers
- Keep an eye out for various reptiles and amphibians crossing the trail
- Look for bugs in the many fallen trees
