CBEC Offers The Legacy Institute For The Environment (LIFE) 2017, Now In Its 14th Season

LIFE is an adult stewardship/education program tailored to improve the quality of biotic life in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Participants attend 9 fascinating educational sessions and participate in site visits guided by expert scientists, environmental educators, and professional consultants. Topics include General Chesapeake Bay Natural History, Chesapeake Bay Fisheries, Watershed Legislation, Best Management Strategies for Land Use, Climate Change Effects on the Bay, and Energy Sustainability. This program is FREE, but following the 9 educational sessions participants are expected to complete 40 hours of stewardship volunteerism at CBEC within a calendar year.

“The LIFE program is a great opportunity to learn much about the Chesapeake Bay. As recent retirees, we wanted to become involved in our community, enjoy the Bay, and meet like-minded individuals. Participating in LIFE allowed us to do exactly that. Each session was fascinating – not overwhelming – and featured both lectures and hands-on activities. We met many interesting people through LIFE, and have thoroughly enjoyed our continued involvement in CBEC.”
